Holding Point

Crew training intelligence for airlines

Give your crew a private AI study assistant that answers only from your manuals, inside your own controlled environment.

A private study assistant for your pilots and an insight dashboard for your training department, deployed within your own secure cloud and loaded with your own manuals. Every answer is drawn from the current revision and cited to the page, so crew always prepare from a source the airline controls.

What has changed since the 14th of August (when I started my annual leave), that affects my fleet?

Crew are already preparing with AI. Make sure it's one your airline can trust.

Safety

Public models invent procedures and quote superseded revisions.

Security and Commercial

Pasting a manual into a consumer chatbot sends manufacturer content supplied in confidence outside the airline.

The Training Blind Spot

Evidence-based training runs on instructor grades, flight data and safety reports, all of which look back at events that have already happened. Nobody measures what crew are unsure of in the months between sims.

How it works

Deploy in your secure and controlled environment. Pilots prepare privately. Training sees trends to feed back into EBT.

01

Deploy inside your tenant

We install Holding Point in your own Azure, AWS or Google Cloud subscription, in your region, behind your single sign-on, and connect it to your manual system. Your documents never leave.

02

Pilots prepare, privately

Crew ask questions in plain language and get answers quoted from the current revision, with the source shown. Quizzes, scenario drills, a “what changed” digest and a voice mode for the crew bus. Their record stays their own.

03

Training sees trends, never names

Questions and quiz results are anonymised and grouped by fleet, seat, topic and competency. Your training department sees where crew are strong and where they are shaky, in time to shape the next cycle.

What's inside

One engine, two views: the pilot's and the training department's.

For pilots

Cited Answers and “What Changed”

Ask anything across OM, FCOM, FCTM, QRH, route and port documents. Every answer shows document, section, revision and effective date, with a link to the page in your manual viewer. If it is not in your documents, it says so.

For training departments

Weak-Area Trends and Training Needs Analysis

Your crew's weak areas, grouped by fleet, seat, topic and competency, with minimum group sizes enforced. The leading indicator your evidence-based training program has been missing.

Quiz and Spaced Repetition

Limitations, memory items and systems, built from the current revision and retired the day it changes.

Scenario Drills

Captain-style decision scenarios, run Socratically and graded against your manual text.

Revision Uptake

See how many crew have engaged with a change.

Instructor Tools

Briefings, scenario outlines and question banks generated from the current revision, with an instructor review step.

Voice Mode

Hands-free quizzing for the crew bus, the drive in and the overnight.

Audit Trail

Every answer logged with its source, replayable for an auditor or a regulator.

Privacy

Built to earn the trust of pilots and airlines alike.

  • A pilot's questions, answers and study record are visible only to that pilot.
  • The training department sees aggregated, anonymised trends, with a minimum group size before any figure is shown.
  • No individual data is ever used in assessment, rostering, discipline or performance management.
  • Every answer cites its source. It never writes or modifies a procedure.
  • Training use only. Not a flight-deck reference and not an EFB application.
  • Pilots can export or delete their own record at any time.

Crew use a study tool candidly only when it cannot be used against them. That is why the fleet-level data is honest, and why we present the charter to your pilots and their association before launch.

The full charter and the aggregation rule are part of every design-partner agreement and are published on this site at launch.

For IT and security

Built to pass your security review.

Your Cloud, Your Region

Deployed by infrastructure-as-code into a subscription you own, in Azure, AWS or Google Cloud, with your keys and your network boundary.

Your Identity

Single sign-on through Entra ID or Okta. Roles for pilot, instructor, training admin and auditor, with entitlements by fleet.

Private Models

Private model endpoints with zero retention, or a model you host yourself. No third party sees your manuals.

Grounded Answers

Answers are constrained to text retrieved from the current revision. Anything unsupported is refused, not guessed.

Document Hygiene

Ingested documents are scanned for embedded instructions before indexing. Revisions are tracked and superseded content is retired.

Audit and Logs

Every answer is logged with its source into your SIEM. ISO 27001 certification is on our 2028 roadmap, with independent penetration testing before it.

From the founder

“I founded Holding Point to give airlines a secure, private and controlled intelligence environment that strengthens crew training between simulator sessions. Every answer is cited from verified manuals, and the competency insights it generates feed directly into the EBT program.”

Questions

Is this an EFB or an operational tool?

No. Holding Point is for preparation and learning, and the screen says so. It is not approved for, and not designed for, use as a reference in flight or in operational decision-making. That boundary keeps it on the training side of the regulatory line and out of your EFB approval.

Does it write procedures?

No. It quotes and explains your controlled text and shows where it came from. A request to generate or change a procedure is declined and redirected to the source document.

Where does our data live?

In your own cloud subscription, in your region. Manuals, questions and answers never leave your tenant. Holding Point maintains the software and never holds your documents.

What about manufacturer manuals?

They are processed inside your tenant under your existing licence, and nothing is sent to a third party. Before each deployment we confirm the position with each manufacturer alongside your legal team, and we can start with airline-authored documents if that is faster.

Can managers see what individual pilots ask?

No. An individual's record is visible only to that pilot. The training department sees aggregated, anonymised trends with a minimum group size, and the contract rules out any use of individual data in assessment, rostering or discipline.

Which clouds and manual systems?

Azure, AWS and Google Cloud. Connectors for the common manual systems and for standard document formats, with deep links back into your own viewer so pilots always land on the controlled page.

How long does deployment take?

A design-partner deployment runs about 90 days from signature to pilots using it, most of which is your security review and manual connection. Once the package is repeatable, the target is a few weeks.

What does it cost?

A licence per pilot per year, tiered by fleet size, plus a one-off deployment fee. Pricing is on request, and design partners receive a discounted licence for the life of the contract.

Is Holding Point affiliated with an airline or a regulator?

No. Holding Point is independent, founded by a current line pilot. No airline's material is used in the product, its demos or this site; demonstrations run on public regulator documents and a synthetic manual set.
